
South Dakota is allowed two delegates to the American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Summer Meeting who are responsible for
serving as representatives of the state of South Dakota. The next meeting
will be held in Baltimore MD, June 10-13, 2012. All delegates must be
members of ASHP. The SDSHP Board of Directors has adopted the following
which explains the responsibilities of each delegate:
- The term of office of each delegate will be as
follows:
- Each term is four years
- The first two years the delegate will serve as
an alternate delegate
i.
Year one: Junior alternate delegate
ii. Year
two: Senior alternate delegate
- The last two years the delegate will serve as a
full delegate to ASHP
i. Year
three: Junior delegate
ii. Year
four: Senior delegate
- Delegates and alternate delegates should attend the
Regional Delegate Conference (RDC) each spring. The two full delegates will
represent South Dakota at the ASHP Annual Meeting. If the full delegates are
unable to attend, the alternate delegates will be expected to attend based
on seniority. Two delegates must attend the Regional Delegate Conference and
the ASHP Annual Meeting every year.
- In the event that a delegate can not serve a full
term, each delegate will move up a position and two delegates will be
elected the next election year.
- Delegates whom attend the ASHP Summer Meeting are
expected to provide written and verbal updates to the Board of Directors.
Summative information will be provided to the SDSHP membership at the SDSHP
Annual Meeting and will be posted on the SDSHP Website.
- Reimbursement for the Delegates whom attend the
Regional Delegate Conference (RDC) and the ASHP Summer Meeting will follow
the SDSHP Travel Policy including the following procedure.
- SDSHP will only provide funding for two
delegates to attend the ASHP Annual Meeting.
- SDSHP will provide funding for all delegates
whom want to attend the RDC. The two senior delegates who are attending
the ASHP Summer Meeting are expected to attend the RDC.
- Candidates must be members of ASHP and SDSHP to
be eligible for travel reimbursement.
SDSHP will be emailing a Call for Delegate to serve as Junior Alternate
Delegate for 2012 about Sept 1 to all ASHP and SDSHP members.
